Structural engineer vs my own gut on a 2-story addition in Austin

I skipped the engineer for the first floor framing and got 6 months into the build before realizing the beam sizing was off by 4 inches. Paid $850 for a review that caught it in a day, worth every cent. Anyone else wish they had just hired one from the start?
