Rant: That architect in Denver who insisted on a flat roof in heavy snow country

After watching my neighbor's flat roof fail twice in two winters, I finally switched to a 6/12 pitch on my own custom build and haven't had a single leak issue since, has anyone else dealt with architects pushing style over function in snowy climates?

Totally agree with you @margaret_gonzalez25, that article nailed it. My architect tried to sell me on a flat roof for my place in Summit County, and I almost went for it until my buddy's caved in under three feet of snow. Switched to a steep pitch myself and haven't had a single problem since, flat roofs in snow country are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Read an article saying flat roofs are basically asking for trouble in heavy snow.
