My wife said we should put the laundry room upstairs and I thought it was a dumb idea until she pointed out we do 90% of our laundry in the bedrooms anyway.

Now I'm looking at plans to move it up there and save a ton of steps, but I'm worried about water lines and noise, has anyone done this in a two-story build?

Check if your floor joists can handle the extra weight, that's a big one. And what's your plan for the drain, gonna need a pump system right?

Actually, a pump isn't always needed if you're smart about placement. If you can put the new bathroom right next to the existing main drain line, you can often just tie into it with the right slope. The pump only comes into play if you're putting it in a basement far from the main stack, or below the sewer line.

Actually, the noise thing is a real concern... especially if you have bedrooms right next door. Modern washers are a lot better with vibration though, just make sure you get a good pad and maybe don't run it late at night. The water lines are the easier part to figure out, honestly.
