I hit 1,400 square feet of hardwood on a custom build in Boise and it broke my brain a little
Last month I finished installing 1,400 sq ft of white oak in this custom place out in Boise and I honestly thought I'd blown the estimate by a mile. Turned out I was only 40 sq ft over on waste, which for me is basically a miracle since I usually eat like 10 percent on a job that size. What got me was the homeowner walked the whole floor with a flashlight looking for gaps and only found two boards he wanted swapped. I've done maybe 60 custom homes and that never happens. Anybody else here track their waste numbers per job, or am I the only one keeping a spreadsheet like a nerd?
