Heard a builder say window placement matters more than the frame material and it got me thinking

I was at a home show last weekend and a custom home builder told me that putting a south-facing window in the wrong spot can cost you $200 a year in heating bills, no matter how good the triple-pane glass is, and now I'm wondering how many floor plans overlook that simple detail.

Wait, did he say how much that changes with different glass types too?

Heard someone say Tempered glass around 4x stronger than annealed which sounds about right. @ray_miller41 I've seen tests online where laminated glass holds up way better under impact too but it's a pain to cut. Pretty sure the glass type changes the thermal expansion rate by a lot depending on what they mix in.

Yeah that builder had a solid point, most people overlook simple stuff like that.
