Unpopular opinion: my old 2011 breakup Facebook status is worse than any dance video I ever posted
I went back through my Facebook archive last Tuesday to find a photo for my sister's wedding slideshow and ended up scrolling for 2 hours and 17 minutes instead. The worst thing in there wasnt the dancing or the duck faces, it was 14 straight days of vague status updates after my ex and I split in 2011. I did the whole thing where I posted song lyrics with no context and one of them was that awful "somebody that I used to know" line. My old roommate in Columbus commented "you good bro?" on almost every single one and I never answered him once. So which one wins for you, the sad vague status era or the shirtless mirror selfies?
That roommate commenting "you good bro?" on every single one and getting zero replies is the funniest and saddest part honestly. My buddy did basically the same thing after his 2013 split except his thing was posting gym selfies with captions like "grind never stops" while clearly falling apart. This went on for like a month and his cousin finally called his mom. He also did the song lyrics thing but his were all Bon Iver, which somehow made it ten times worse. The kicker is he ran into his ex at a Kroger like two years later and she said she had muted him after week one, so the whole performance was for nobody. Sad vague status era wins for me easily, at least the dance videos were something you actually did instead of just felt.
