The 'I was so deep' Myspace quote I posted at 16 finally got explained to me by my nephew
My nephew found my old Myspace page last weekend. He saw my top 8, my glitter cursor, and this quote I had in my About Me: 'I'm not shallow, I'm just deep in a different way.' I thought that was SO profound back in 2007. He asked me what it meant and I froze. I had no answer. It was just words I stole from a LiveJournal quiz. The cringe hit me so hard I had to close the laptop. But then he showed me how he could archive old pages and dig up deleted posts, and honestly, that trick is kind of amazing for finding your own trainwreck history. Has anyone else found an old post that made you physically recoil but you couldn't stop reading it?

People act like finding old posts is some kind of time travel horror show. You wrote some nonsense when you were 16 because the internet was basically a free for all and everyone was copying each other. The real cringe is treating it like a big deal instead of just laughing and moving on. Your nephew probably thought it was funny for ten minutes and then went back to whatever he does on his phone. You spent more time writing this post than you ever spent on that quote.
