That 2012 Wordpress theme I thought was genius now hurts my eyes
I was clearing out an old laptop last week and found a blog I ran back in college, circa 2012, with this neon pink header, Comic Sans for every heading, and a music player that auto-started some dubstep remix. It made me wonder, do we cringe harder at our old design choices or our old takes in the posts themselves? Like, the layout was objectively awful, but the stuff I wrote about being a 'digital nomad' after one summer internship feels way more embarrassing. My friend says bad design ages worse because it's visual proof, but I think the written cringe cuts deeper since it shows how clueless we were. Which side do you land on when you dig up your old profiles, the look or the words?
Oh man, finding old blogs is such a humbling experience, been there. Honestly the written stuff gets me worse too, cause bad fonts are just funny but reading my old hot takes makes me want to crawl out of my skin.
