A random comment about my old captions made me rethink everything

Tbh I used to write these long, dramatic captions on every post, like full paragraphs about my feelings. Last month someone just commented 'who talks like this' on a throwback pic and it hit different. Now I keep it to one line max, super plain. Has anyone else had a stranger's offhand remark change how they post?

Whoa, hold on, I gotta push back on that! I see it the complete opposite way. That one comment was probably just some random person being salty, not a sign you should water yourself down. Look, I post long captions sometimes and yeah, they're not for everyone, but the people who actually hit like and reply are the ones who connect with the real me. If I stripped it all back to "nice sunset," I'd just be another boring feed. You said it made you rethink everything, but one stranger's opinion shouldn't erase what felt good to you in the first place. Maybe just find a middle ground where you still sound like you, just with less fluff, you know?
