Visited a coffee shop in Austin and changed my mind about pouring latte art

I used to think latte art was just for Instagram likes, but I watched a barista in Austin pull 3 perfect rosettas in 30 seconds last weekend. The way she adjusted her steam wand on the fly made me realize it's actually about texture control for better tasting drinks. Has anyone else had a skill click after seeing it done right in person?

Wait, did you catch the part about the steam wand too? I always thought latte art was just a gimmick for the 'gram, but then I saw this dude at a shop in Portland who did a swan in like 20 seconds. The way he moved the pitcher made me realize it's all about getting that microfoam right for the taste, not just the look. Honestly, seeing it done in person changed my mind completely. It's like watching a magic trick where the payoff is actually a better cup of coffee.

Oh man, did you catch how she adjusted the steam wand mid-pour too? That little twist and tilt thing totally blew my mind. I saw a barista in Seattle do a similar thing with a tulip pattern and it finally clicked for me why my home lattes always tasted kind of flat. It's wild how watching someone who actually knows what they're doing can make you see the whole process differently, right? The texture really does change the whole drinking experience.
