Unpopular opinion: My eco swap for video sets drove viewers away

I've noticed more creators trying to be green, but my own experience was rough. I run a craft channel and decided to stop building new props for every video to cut waste. Instead, I began using the same few items or digital effects. My carbon footprint got smaller, which I was proud of. But then my views dropped and comments filled with complaints about the repeats. People said the content felt lazy and less authentic. I had to choose between my environmental goals and keeping my audience engaged. It's a hidden struggle that I bet other creators face too.

Oof, ever think about mixing old props with some new?

Useless for actually typing" made me laugh. My grandma's rotary phone is the same, a total brick, but I keep it on the shelf next to my wireless charger. The weird clash of the coiled cord and the glowing pad somehow works for me. It's like the old thing gets to just be a sculpture now.

That vintage typewriter I use as a bookend totally sets a mood, but it's useless for actually typing. So I get what you're saying, @jana119. But how do you balance it without making the new stuff feel cold or the old stuff feel like clutter? Like, do you pair a modern LED lamp with a beat-up leather journal, or does that just make the journal look shabby? Is the goal for the old piece to still feel special, or does mixing it in just kind of wash that history out?
