TIL most people filming vertical video hold their phone wrong, and it's why their shots look shaky.

I figured it out after a month of filming my cooking channel and noticing my clips were way steadier once I started gripping the phone with both hands on the sides, not the top and bottom, which a pro videographer in Seattle showed me during a collab.

My buddy's hiking videos were a mess until he switched to holding his phone like a game controller.

Totally thought it was about having a steady hand before. Watching my old cooking clips, the camera would wobble every time I stirred a pot. Gripping the sides like a steering wheel instead of the ends made it feel locked in place, like the phone became part of my hands. That small change fixed my shaky pancake flip shots for good.

So does this side grip trick work for bigger phones too? My hands are pretty average and a pro model feels like a tablet. Worried it would just make things more awkward.
