TIL a guy in a Facebook video group swore batch filming 5 clips in one afternoon would save my channel, and it actually did
I run a small woodworking channel, about 4,200 subs, and I film every project start to finish because I thought viewers wanted the whole build. A guy named Dale in one of my creator groups kept posting that batch filming was the answer, and I figured he was just repeating some guru line. Then I tried it for one weekend in my garage. I set up my camera, knocked out 5 separate clips back to back, and it took me 90 minutes total instead of the usual 6 hours spread across a week. Putting the camera away once meant I stopped fiddling with lighting and redoing intros, which was eating most of my time. My upload streak went from 1 video every 10 days to 3 a week, and the odd part is my watch time went up too. Dale, if you're out there, I owe you a coffee. Has anyone else tried filming in one big batch, and did your editing pile up on you afterward?
The odd part is my watch time went up too" haha that's not odd my guy, that's just what happens when you stop filming 40 minute intros of yourself adjusting a clamp. But yeah the batch thing works until you sit down to edit and realize you now have 5 clips of sawdust and zero memory of what you were even building. I did this once and spent a whole Sunday trying to figure out which batch was the shelf and which was the birdhouse. Still worth it tho, 90 minutes beats 6 hours every time.
