Spent 4 months stuck at 180 subs, then ONE pinned comment trick did it

I was posting 3 videos a week on my woodworking channel and could not crack 180 subscribers for 4 months straight, even though my average view time was over 8 minutes. Last Tuesday I tried pinning a comment on my latest build video asking people what project they wanted to see next, and that one pinned comment got 47 replies and pushed me to 400 subs in 6 days. Has anyone else had a pinned comment actually move the needle like that, or did I just get lucky with the algorithm?
