My editor asked why I keep 3 takes of me saying nothing, and his reason made me rethink my whole setup
He said the pause before I answer is the most real part of the video, which hit me hard because I had been cutting every single one of those moments out of my 20 minute uploads for 8 months straight, so now I am wondering if anyone else leaves their awkward silences in on purpose.
My ugly mugs of dead air could fill a whole channel by now. I cut every pause for so long that my videos started sounding like a guy reading a script at gunpoint. Watched one back last week and it was rough, no breaths, no thinking, just words stacked on words. Turns out the silence was doing the heavy lifting the whole time and I was deleting it like junk mail.
