Just found out how many people skip the first 30 seconds of a video

I was looking at the analytics for my latest tutorial and saw a huge drop off right at the start. Over 40% of viewers skip the first half minute. I always thought my intro was fine, but the data doesn't lie. I found this out on a creator dashboard deep dive last night. It makes me think I need to get to the point way faster. Has anyone else cut their intros short and seen a real change in watch time?

Yeah, that's brutal. I started putting the actual tutorial step in the first ten seconds, like a quick preview. My retention got way better.

Honestly felt the same way for the longest time. Thought giving anything away up front was a total cheat. Then I tried that preview trick Nancy mentioned, just a quick look at the final step. My watch time shot up because people actually stuck around to see how you get there. Changed my whole view on what a "spoiler" really is.
