Hot take: That $500 microphone I bought was a total waste for my voice type

I spent way too much on a fancy condenser mic thinking it would fix my audio quality, but it just picked up every little room noise and made my voice sound tinny. Switched to a $100 dynamic mic and my listeners actually said I sound clearer now. Anyone else found that expensive gear can backfire depending on your setup?

Your dynamic mic move was smart. That condenser probably had too hot of a capsule for your space, and a lot of folks don't realize room treatment matters more than the mic itself.

Exactly this. People drop crazy cash on a mic before they even check their room. Big mistake. A treated room makes a cheap mic sound decent. An untreated room makes a expensive mic sound awful. Power to the dynamics honestly.
