Hit 10,000 plays on my new album and it wasn't the number that got me

I cracked 10k streams on Spotify last month and the thing that actually surprised me was that 80% came from a single playlist I didn't even pitch to. Has anyone else had a random playlist carry their whole release?

Got a playlist called "Chill Guitar Vibes" randomly threw one of my songs on there back in 2022. Never even submitted to it, just woke up one morning and saw my streams jumping like crazy. Turned out that one playlist got me more listeners than all my ads and social media promo combined. Still don't know how the curator found my track but I'm not mad about it. Kinda makes you wonder how much of this music thing is actually just luck.

That's wild, totally random stuff like that feels like the universe just decides to give you a break sometimes. Really makes you think half of making it is just being in the right place at the right time.

Totally agree with what nguyen.tara said about the "Chill Guitar Vibes" thing. I mean, that's pretty much what happened to me. I think the part about "how much of this music thing is actually just luck" is spot on. You can do all the right promo, pitch to every playlist, run ads, and then a random bot or a person you'll never meet just picks your track because they liked it. It really makes you feel like half the game is just getting lucky and having your song land in front of the right person at the right time. That's kind of scary but also a little freeing, you know? Like you can try your best but the universe has its own plan.
