Writing prompt workshop in Portland made me ditch my sloppy first drafts
Last month I sat in on a two hour workshop where the leader made us write a scene three times, once from each character's head. My first draft was pure trash, all dialogue and no action. The second pass forced me to add specific objects and sounds, like a cracked coffee mug and a ticking timer. The third version finally had tension because I knew who wanted what. Now I build every prompt that way before I even start writing. Has anyone else tried rewriting the same prompt from multiple viewpoints, or do you just stick with one pass?

But did rewriting from each viewpoint actually change your OUTLINE, or just the scene you were stuck on?
