Tried writing a horror story from a ghost's POV and it turned into a comedy by accident
Had this idea where the ghost is just annoyed about the living leaving dirty dishes in the sink, and now I'm wondering if leaning into the humor ruined the whole spooky vibe or actually made it better, anyone else ever start one direction and end up somewhere totally different?

Wait, so the ghost is more concerned about crusty plates than haunting people? Honestly that sounds way better than some boring wailing and chain rattling. I bet the real horror would be a ghost who leaves passive-aggressive sticky notes on the fridge about Tupperware lids not matching. Leaning into the humor probably saved it from being another generic spooky story nobody remembers.

Three sticky notes and suddenly everyone's a paranormal expert.
