Spent a whole Saturday trying to fix one plot hole in my fantasy story

I was working on a scene where my character needs to cross a river, but I realized the river was supposed to be frozen from a previous chapter. Had to go back and figure out the timeline of the cold snap, the melting rate, and whether it made sense. Took me about 4 hours of scribbling notes and re-reading 30 pages before I realized I could just have him take a boat instead. Has anyone else had a tiny logic issue eat up a whole afternoon like that?

Four hours, huh? That's like 240 minutes you could have spent staring at a wall and coming to the same conclusion. I once spent an entire Sunday debating whether a character should wear a blue or green cloak (not knowing the river would be frozen, apparently). Ended up flipping a coin, then changing it three chapters later because the dye source didn't exist in that region. So yeah, you're in good company with the rest of us over-thinkers.

Totally, overthinking the small stuff is basically a hobby at this point.

12 hours picking paint colors... seems reasonable to me.
