PSA: My neighbor's kid asked me why my main character always wins and it stopped me cold.

He's ten, he was looking at my notebook on the porch last Tuesday, and he said 'Doesn't it get boring if she's never scared for real?' and I haven't written a single easy victory since.

Kids cut right to the heart of things" is so true. My little cousin asked why my game character could just restart with no cost, and it totally changed how I design levels now.

My buddy writes comics and his nephew asked why the hero never gets hurt bad. He started adding real stakes the next week, and says his fights feel honest now. Kids cut right to the heart of things sometimes.
