I keep seeing the same prompt about a 'chosen one' in every other post.
It's always a farmhand who finds a magic sword and has to save the world, which makes every story feel the same. I realized this after reading through about fifty prompts in the weekly challenge and thirty of them had that exact setup. What's a small, specific detail you could add to that old idea to make it feel fresh again?

What if the magic sword is actually a huge pain to deal with? Like it's sentient and constantly complains about the farmhand's technique, or it only works if it's perfectly polished and the kid keeps getting dirt on it from the fields. That small shift from a noble weapon to a fussy burden changes the whole dynamic.

Totally, my mom's old coffee maker was like that, it would only brew if you tapped the side three times first.

My uncle's old truck had a carburetor like that, always fussing about the fuel mix. The sword could have a list of weird rules, like it won't cut unless you've had your morning oatmeal.
