Hit 100K words in my WIP last night and I'm shook

I randomly checked my word count on a whim and realized I wrote 100,342 words over 8 months without even noticing until last night lol. Has anyone else lost track of their progress like this and had a total 'wait what' moment?

Started writing at 11pm one night and suddenly it was 4am and I had like 8,000 words down. Completely lost track of time and the word counter. What got me through was just focusing on the next scene instead of the whole mountain of words. Broke it down into smaller pieces like each chapter or even just each conversation between characters. Feels way less overwhelming that way, and you end up looking up one day and bam, you're way past where you thought you'd be.

Wait, you're telling me you wrote 8,000 words in one sitting and didn't even realize it? That's either superhuman or you forgot to eat dinner. I guess breaking it into tiny pieces works, but my version of that is convincing myself I'll just write one sentence, then three hours later I'm on page 20 with a cold cup of coffee and no memory of how I got there. Kinda feels like the writing equivalent of those "one more episode" Netflix binges, except you actually accomplished something at the end. Maybe the real trick is just forgetting to look at the clock, because once you see 4am your brain starts screaming about how you have to be up in three hours. Still, 8,000 words is wild. That's like a whole short story or a very long letter to your editor saying "sorry it's late.
