Had to pick between a haunted doll or a sentient toaster for my main character.
I chose the toaster, and now my story is about a breakfast appliance solving mysteries in a 1970s diner. Anyone have a good name for a detective toaster?

Call him Inspector Crumb. Or maybe Sergeant Sizzle. That 70s diner setting is perfect for a toaster with a burnt sense of justice.

You know, I always pictured a toaster cop as some gritty noir type. But hunt.quinn is onto something. Inspector Crumb solving mysteries in a vinyl booth, finding a clue in some strawberry jam? Sergeant Sizzle grilling suspects over a greasy counter. That burnt sense of justice hits different in a place that smells like bacon. It just fits.

My brain always went straight to a rainy alley for a toaster detective. The diner idea is way better, a place where the burnt toast is part of the daily special and the coffee's always fresh. Inspector Crumb leaning over a sticky counter to examine a fingerprint in the syrup just makes perfect sense.
