Had a day last Tuesday where every single scene I wrote felt like garbage
I spent like 6 hours staring at a blank document for my fantasy novel, then finally typed out 200 words that made zero sense about a guy buying bread. My beta reader said the dialogue sounded like robots arguing over a warranty. Has anyone else hit a wall where even your own story feels completely foreign to you?

Read a writing blog that said bad first drafts are normal.

Get that idea stuck in your head because it is totally true. First drafts are supposed to be a hot mess. You are basically just throwing all your thoughts onto the page before they disappear. Nobody writes a perfect story on the first go. The real magic happens when you go back and fix everything up. So don't stress about it and just type away.

Twelve pages into my first NaNoWriMo attempt I realized my main character's name was the same as my ex-boyfriend's cat. @mia748 is right though, it was a total mess but at least I got something down.
