Warning: I used to skip daily wire inspections on my LTM 1050...

I never bothered checking the pendant lines every morning for 2 years, thought it was a waste of time. Then last month in Phoenix a broken wire frayed mid lift on a 12 ton HVAC unit almost swung into a building. Now I walk every inch of cable before first start, saved me a real close call.

Two years with no inspection? That's insane. What made you finally start checking them before that near miss?

Is it possible you just got lucky with the design of whatever system you were running? I mean, some older setups are built so tough they practically inspect themselves for a while. I had a compressor that went three years without anyone looking at the seals, and it only started acting up when we swapped to a different brand of oil. Maybe the real issue isn't the interval but what changed between those two years.
