TIL a site manager in Phoenix wanted us to lift a load over a live power line
I flat out refused and showed him the 10-foot clearance rule from the OSHA manual in my cab. Has anyone else had to shut down a bad lift like that?

Yeah that's just basic safety, good on you for standing your ground. It's wild how often the people in charge try to skip steps they think are just red tape. I see it everywhere, like when someone tries to prop a fire door open because it's "just for a minute." They forget the rule is there because someone else already got hurt.

Reminds me of the time at my old job where they kept disabling the emergency exit alarm because deliveries were "inconvenient"... until the fire marshal showed up for a random check.

Ever wonder why they never learn until it's too late?
