Threw $150 at a wireless load cell system and it's basically a paperweight now

The app kept crashing on my phone during a pick at a job site near Portland and I couldn't even get a refund because the warranty was void if you dropped it even once, has anyone else had luck with those bluetooth hook scales or are they just scammy?

Honestly, I had the exact same problem with a different brand until I got one with a hard plastic case and a physical on/off switch. Tbh, @thomas_martinez is right about the rubber boot helping a ton, I wrapped mine in that and it's survived a few drops without dying.

The part about the warranty being void if you dropped it once is wild to me. I mean, aren't load cells supposed to be for job sites where stuff gets bumped around? That feels like a built-in excuse to deny every claim they get. $150 is a lot for a tool that basically breaks if you look at it wrong (or drop it, apparently). I'd be furious if my warranty got nuked over one accidental drop.

Honestly, you gotta read the fine print before buying any load cell because some brands treat drops like a personal insult. Tbh, I've had luck putting a thick rubber boot over mine and just taking the L on warranty claims that involve drops.
