That moment when the load line just... gave up

Had a synthetic sling snap on me yesterday during a routine lift, about 15 feet off the deck. It was a 3-ton lift, nothing crazy, but the sling was older than I thought. Had to signal for an emergency stop and re-rig with a steel cable from the truck. Anyone have a good rule of thumb for when to retire those blue nylon slings?

Sounds like you just got unlucky. Those blue slings can last way longer than the book says if you treat them right.

Yeah, treating them right is key! I've had a blue one last almost a year past its rating just by keeping it clean and dry.
