That 6AM lift in Houston last Thursday almost went bad because of an unlabeled shackle
Some rookie on the night shift swapped a Crosby shackle with a cheap knockoff and I didn't catch it until I saw the pin was too loose, has anyone else found random hardware mixed into their bin?

Yeah that "too loose" pin is exactly the kind of thing that gets missed until it's too late. I read a report from OSHA last year where a warehouse in Baton Rouge had a similar problem - mixed bins with unmarked shackles caused a beam to drop right during a lift. Nobody got hurt but it wrecked the floor. It's wild how one lazy shift can create a safety hazard that lasts for weeks. You'd think they'd label the cheap ones with a paint marker or something.

Depends on the situation though @terry_carter15. I've seen plenty of warehouses run loose shackles for years without a single drop. Those OSHA reports always pick the worst case, not the average day. A paint marker would help but most guys just check the pin by hand before hooking up anyway. Probably more of a training issue than a labeling one.
