Talking with an old rigger in Tulsa changed how I read the wind

I was waiting out a 30 mph gust day at a job site in Tulsa and this retiree, Hank, came by just to watch. He said I was fighting the load instead of letting the wind tell me where it wanted to go. Hit different because he pointed at my slacking tagline and said I was thinking in feet when I should be thinking in seconds. Has anyone else had a veteran drop some simple line that stuck with you way longer than a manual ever did?
