Switched to a tagline hoist last month and it's way better

For years I was running my picks with a standard wire rope hoist on a 50 ton Grove. Three weeks ago I hooked into a tagline setup for a steel erection job at the old Miller plant. The difference in load control on windy days is night and day. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a big change in their boom swing stability?

Tagline hoist changed the game for me too. Switched over after fighting the wind on a high rise job and never looked back. Boom swing is way more predictable now, makes me wonder why I waited so long.

The wind resistance on high rises was exactly what made me drag my feet too, but you're saying the boom swing predictability was the biggest difference? Did you have to adjust your signal person's habits a lot when you switched, or was it pretty smooth once the hoist was set up?
