Spending more time on reports than the rig itself

I remember when inspection was a hands-on thing. You'd listen to the engine, feel for vibrations. These days, it's just data entry on a screen.

That "listen to the engine" method sounds good until you realize how much it can miss. A sensor logs a tiny pressure drop for weeks before a real failure, stuff no ear can hear. All that data entry builds a history that finds problems early, not just when they make noise. It turns guesswork into a plan, which saves a lot more time down the line than just going by feel.
