Saw a 60 foot boom come down last Thursday because the outrigger pad sat on a backfilled spot
We were set up on a job in Fresno and the pad on the front left looked packed, but the ground under it had been dug up and refilled maybe 6 months back. The pad sank about 4 inches when the boom swung over that side, and the whole rig tilted just enough that the operator felt it and stopped cold. How are you guys checking backfilled ground before you set up, or do you just trust the GC when they say it's solid?
