Nailed my first blind pick on a 5 ton Liebherr yesterday

Got a call to set steel beams for a new garage up near Greely and the spotter didn't show. Lined it up by feel and hollering at the ground guy, got all 6 beams in place within an hour. Anyone else ever have to run a pick without a spotter and how'd you handle it?

Respect that take, but a good spotter saves time and keeps everyone safe.

Must be nice when the stars align and the load just floats into place like that. Seen too many jobs lately where everyone's short handed and you end up playing mind reader with the guy on the ground. Usually works out better when you trust your hands anyway, half the time the spotter is just guessing too.

Hands know the load better than eyes do in my experience.
