Just hit 10,000 hours on the same tower crane cab

The hour meter on my old Link-Belt in Kansas City clicked over yesterday. I bought that rig used 8 years ago and never thought I'd put that much time in one seat. The weird part is, the seat cushion is still the original one and it's only got a small tear. Anyone else have a piece of gear that just refuses to quit on them?

Man, that's awesome. My old service truck just rolled past 300,000 miles on the original transmission. I've changed the oil and done the brakes, but that's it. The thing is a total rust bucket but it starts every single morning. Some machines are just built different.

Had a work van like that, just kept running no matter what. Sometimes you just get lucky with how they're put together.

Hold onto that thing as long as you can. I've seen too many people give up on a good truck just because it looks rough. You can patch a rust hole or two with a little bondo and beer money, but you can't buy that kind of reliability. A transmission that goes that far without a rebuild is a unicorn in my book. Treat it right and it'll probably outlast the body by a long shot. That's a keeper for sure.
