Had a chat with an old-timer that flipped my view on load charts
I was talking to a guy named Frank who ran cranes for 40 years, mostly on bridge jobs in Pittsburgh. He said he still does a full chart review with a highlighter for every single lift, even the 'easy' ones under 50% capacity. He told me about a time a simple panel pick went wrong because he missed a footnote about boom tip weight. I always figured if the computer said it was good, it was good, but that story stuck with me. How many of you still do a manual chart check for every pick?

Man, my buddy's rig nearly tipped on a routine lift because the chart was wrong.

Yeah, checking is good, but the chart being wrong is the real problem. That's on the company to fix their load charts.
