Finally got my pick radius dialed in after 3 months
I kept seeing guys swing too wide on tight jobsites, losing time and risking taglines getting caught on pipe racks. Yesterday I marked my boom angle and swing limits with tape on the cab window and finished a row of steel 20 minutes faster than the last job. Anyone else mark reference points on their cab or do you just eyeball it every time?

Dude yes, the tape trick is a lifesaver lol. I marked my cab window with some neon green tape after I kept smacking a beam into a column trying to eyeball it. Now my swing path is basically automatic even with no spotters around.

That bit about marking boom angle with tape on the cab window hit me. I used to think that was overkill, like you should just feel it out. But last month I was setting beams on a tight corner lot and kept having to re-swing because I blew past my limits. Wasted almost an hour. So I finally broke down and put some tape strips on my window too. Now I can lock in my boom angle without looking away from the load. It's one of those small changes that makes a big difference on a busy day.
