A site supervisor told me to stop swinging the load so fast and it actually saved my back
Honestly, I used to crank the swing speed on the P&H 550 to get loads out faster on a job in Austin last month. This older guy, Bill, pulled me aside and said I was putting way too much stress on the crane's boom and my own shoulders. I slowed down the swing by about 30% and my shoulder pain is gone after two weeks. Has anyone else had a supervisor correct a habit you thought was fine?

Is it weird how we all think faster = better until someone older shows us we're just hurting ourselves? I feel like that mindset creeps into everything from driving to how we cook dinner.

Start noticing it in the kitchen, funny enough. My neighbor Martha (she's 78) takes forever to chop an onion, but her soup always tastes better than mine. I'm over here dicing like a maniac just to save maybe two minutes, then I'm huffing and puffing because I nearly cut my finger off. Same thing with folding laundry or washing dishes, honestly. The older folks know that slowing down just means less mistakes and more peace of mind.
