Took me 5 years to figure out I was over-saturating my foils
I always loaded up my foils with so much lightener that it bled everywhere and took forever to process. Last week a senior stylist watched me work and said "you only need half that amount, the heat from the scalp does the rest." Has anyone else had a basic technique click way later than it should have?

The real pros use less product.

Read somewhere that professional kitchens use the same rule for salt - less is more because you can always add but you can't take away. Never thought about it applying to hair color too. I've seen stylists glob on product like they're frosting a cake and wonder why the color comes out blotchy. Bet that senior stylist saved you a ton of money on lightener over the years too.
