One client's 'can you fix this?' turned into a 2-hour scalp burn rescue
I had a walk-in last month in Portland who said she used a box dye at home and it came out patchy. She sat down and I saw her scalp was bright red and peeling in spots. She admitted she left it on for 45 minutes because a YouTube video said longer equals better. I spent two hours doing a clarifying treatment, then a toner to even out her roots, and sent her home with a soothing aloe mask. She tipped me $20 and said she'll never touch a box again, but I worry about how many people follow those videos. Has anyone else dealt with clients who trust internet advice over a licensed pro? What do you tell them without sounding rude?
