My curling iron literally exploded mid-curl yesterday

I was doing a blowout for a client at 10am yesterday and my favorite 1-inch curling iron just popped and sparked right in my hand. Scared the living daylights out of both of us and I had to finish her whole head with a round brush and a prayer. Thing was only 8 months old and I paid $65 for it at the beauty supply. Anybody else have a tool straight up die on them during a service and how did you handle the rest of the appointment?

My clippers died right in the middle of a fade last spring, and I had to finish with scissors and a prayer too. The motor literally started smoking and smelling like burnt plastic with half the guy's head still buzzed. I ended up buying a cheap backup pair from the drugstore that same afternoon just to get through the rest of my appointments.

@max415 I had the same thing happen with an old Wahl and now i keep a cheap corded clipper as backup just for emergencies. It saved me once when my main cordless died mid haircut on a Saturday. Honestly just having something that plugs in and works no matter what is worth the $30.
