My aunt told me to never use a razor on dry hair for a shag cut

She's a stylist in Austin and said it always causes split ends. I ignored her advice for a client last week and used my razor on dry sections for texture. Now that client called back saying her ends are fried and she needs a fix. Has anyone else had a bad result from dry razor cutting, or was it just my technique?

Yeah, that "skip the basic rules to save time" part is exactly it. You gotta wet the hair for a razor cut, it just shreds dry ends. Now you know for next time, just do a quick fix trim on her.

Honestly, that line about ignoring her advice is the whole story. Tbh I see this all the time where people skip the basic rules to save time. It always comes back to bite you.

Totally agree with @masonm70, a quick wet trim saved my last attempt.
