Just dropped $150 on a 'revolutionary' thermal styling brush that fried my client's hair

The bristles got way too hot and left a section of her hair brittle and singed. Has anyone found a reliable brand for thermal tools that actually has good heat control?

Kai_knight62's story about the melted nozzle is a good example of a different problem, faulty construction. The post here is about bad heat control on a working tool. My old salon had a basic ceramic iron from a beauty supply store, the kind with a real dial, not buttons. You could set it exactly where you needed and it never spiked.

My cousin bought this fancy infrared dryer last year, the kind with the colored lights. It literally melted the plastic nozzle onto her bathroom countertop, left a permanent mark. She said it smelled like burning chemicals for a week. Honestly, some of these new gadgets feel like they skip the real testing phase. Makes you want to just stick with the basic tools from ten years ago that never broke.

Used to believe the expensive stuff was always better. Seeing these stories about melted tools and fried hair makes me question that whole idea. Now I just look for simple tools with clear, basic temperature settings.
