Honestly, the sanitation shortcuts I saw at a resort salon in the Dominican Republic are no joke.

Read an article last year about people getting serious infections from unsterilized tools at vacation salons. They said it was way more common than tourists realize. Makes you think twice before booking any treatment abroad.

Honestly, something tourists never consider is that "single-use" tools in budget resorts are often just rinsed and reused all season. I saw a report where a salon used the same wax sticks for weeks because disposable ones cost too much. Their cleaning routine was basically a quick dip in bleach water, no real steam sterilizer at all. You have to SPECIFICALLY ask if tools are autoclaved or just "sanitized" which can mean almost nothing.

I once asked a salon if they used new tools and they just held up a spray bottle of blue liquid. That's when I learned my own risk tolerance is basically zero. I just do my own nails now, badly.
