Had a bride cry in my chair after I used a purple toner on her brassiness

I was working a wedding in Austin last month and the bride showed up with orange hair from a box dye, so I grabbed my go-to purple shampoo and toner mix, but she started crying 5 minutes in saying it looked purple, and now I always test a small section first before committing to the whole head does anyone else run into brides who panic over toner shades?

yo @thomas.parker nailed it with that test strip tip. i was reading some cosmetology study the other day that said like 70% of brides have a panic moment during the color process, so now i just warn em upfront that purple toner looks scary at first. saves everyone the headache lol

Lol the bride crying over purple toner is way too real. I had a similar thing last year with a bride who insisted her roots looked 'ashy gray' after I used a fanola toner on her. She literally asked me to wash it out after 3 minutes cause she thought her hair was gonna turn blue. I feel your pain on the test section thing, I always do a tiny strip behind the ear now cause people seriously freak out over any hint of cool tone.
