Had a bleach reaction scare in my chair yesterday

Client's scalp started turning bright red and hot during a root touch up. I rinsed immediately with cool water and called her doctor, who said to use a topical antihistamine cream. Has anyone else had this happen and what's your first step?

Oh wow, that's scary! I always keep a bottle of Benadryl spray in my kit for exactly that kind of reaction.
