Blue toner stain disaster, 3 hours to fix one mistake

I was doing a color correction on a client in Reno and dumped a bit too much blue toner on her roots. Looked like a smurf got frisky with her scalp. Took me 3 hours and two clarifying washes to lift it enough to redo. Has anyone found a faster trick for pulling blue out without wrecking the hair?
