A bride in Charleston asked for a half-up style with her grandmother's clip, and it taught me a new securing method.

I was pinning it the usual way, but she showed me how her grandma would twist a small section of hair around the clip's hinge to lock it in place. Anyone have other tricks for securing sentimental pieces without damaging them?

That grandma trick sounds clever, but is a hair clip really that hard to keep in place? I feel like most pins work fine if you just use enough of them.

Maybe if you have thin hair, but with thick hair like mine, pins just slide right out. That grandma trick with the hair clip actually holds everything in place without needing a ton of them.
